BB Skin Perfecting Cream - Superdrug ♥

When BB creams hit the shops I was very excited to try one out. I have quite bad 'teenage' skin and I hate having to wear foundation and concealer to cover up all my blemishes. I long for the day when I can wear nothing on my face but moisturiser and mascara! Wearing foundation can feel quite heavy and I always think it is probably inhibiting the healing of my skin, and so it becomes a vicious circle of bad skin + cover up.

'BB' stands for 'Blemish Balm' and these creams promise to be an 'all in one' face product combining a moisturiser, primer, concealer, foundation and SPF. Sounds amazing! I first tried quite an expensive No.7 BB cream, a 'nutrient enriched formula', but when I applied this I looked so ridiculous I couldn't leave the house. The reason for this is the colour. I had the lightest shade but it looked so orange on my pale skin! Colour aside, the coverage was really good and applied smoothly and blended well. But if the colour is a no-go, then its a pretty useless product!

I was feeling disheartened but thought I should try another brand. But instead of paying out loads more money for another potentially orange coloured product, I spied a Superdrug own brand BB cream - 5 in 1 Skin Perfecting Day Cream.

This is the description of the BB Cream on the box:

Scientifically formulated with a unique combination of skin nourishing ingredients and mineral pigments, Superdrug BB Cream imparts a light, creamy coverage which effectively conceals imperfections, boosts radiance and smoothes the complexion. With SPF 15, it helps to protect against sun damage and premature skin ageing whilst also providing 24 hour hydration.

Active ingredients:
Vitamin C – a potent antioxidant.
Hyaluronic Acid – an exceptional moisturiser.
Caffeine - refreshes the complexion.

I was pleasantly surprised by this product. For the low price I wasn't expecting it to be amazing, but in terms of colour it is so, so much better. The coverage is not as good as the No.7 one but it applies really well, feels light on my skin, and gives me a healthy colour rather than an orange one! When I've used this I have had to use a bit of concealer with it, but apart from that it's a really nice every day product to wear. I wore this on holiday everyday and I also noticed a marked improvement in my skin.

In the above photo my hand on the left is before, and on the right is after, when the BB cream has been applied. As you can see it has a nice sheen and has a lovely natural colour that is not far from my natural skin colour. This BB cream was in the 'Light' shade but it is also available in 'Medium'.

I would definitely recommend this product if you fancy trying a BB cream but don't want to spend loads. This was £6.99 when I bought it, but it's now only £4.66 on Superdrug website so if you fancy giving it a go after reading this review then it's mega cheap to buy right now!

  2. This looks lovely and light - do you use a primer too? I have just bought one and it looks pretty similar on the skin. I hate the look of my skin without foundation and dream of a flawless make-up free life! Haha!

  3. Try some samples of Korean ones off ebay, you'll be amazed by the difference! Skin79 is always a winner, the pink one is the best I think.
