Bourjois 3 for 2 at Superdrug FOTD ♥

I recently ran out of my foundation - Revlon Photoready, and whilst I really liked it I wanted to try out a new product instead of repurchasing. I went into Superdrug and noticed they had a 3 for 2 offer on Bourjois cosmetics. I was torn between the 'Healthy Mix' and '123 Perfect' foundations as I have heard good things about both. I decided on '123' and I also picked up a new 'Volume Glamour Ultra Black' mascara and a pretty 'Intense Extrait 3' eyeshadow.

I bought the 'Light Vanilla' shade of the 123 foundation, as it's the palest. The foundation claims to counteract common skin issues by balancing out colour pigments:

3 correcting pigments for zero imperfections:
  1. Yellow pigments: Anti dark circles
  2. Mauve pigments: Anti dull complexion
  3. Green pigments: Anti redness
  • 24hr hydration and anti-shine: cotton flower extract
  • SPF 10
  • Medium coverage, yet lets skin breathe
  • Soft and smooth formula for a second skin finish

When I first squirted the product out it felt very runny and I was little worried that it would be watery and not cover any blemishes. However, when applied it evens my skin tone out and makes it appear quite smooth and regular. What I also love about this foundation is that it makes my skin feel so soft, and it blends in so easily. I have used my fingers and a stippling brush to apply. Using a brush makes the final result even more flawless. It also has a very subtle fragrance which is really lovely. I would say it definitely combats my redness and freshens up my complexion which can look dull and grey sometimes. It provides medium coverage but can be built up by layering more product on. It gives an almost powdery finished effect - and by no means cakey. I have oily skin and my skin stays quite matte all day. I think I have found a winner! Love this product more than my last foundation and will buy again.

I wanted a pretty, summery eyeshadow and when I saw the glittery 'Intense Extrait' eyeshadow pots I was like a magpie attracted to all the beautiful sparkling shades! I picked no.3 which is a lovely peach colour with lots of fine silver shimmer particles. It can be built up from a little glisten of sparkle to full on spangle-tastic eyelids! When I applied it I was a little shocked at how peachy it looked on my skin but I grew to like it! I'd like to buy a grey shade too to do a shimmery, smokey eye.

Here I am wearing all 3 products. The final product I bought in the offer was the 'Volume Glamour Ultra Black' mascara. It is very pigmented and dark black which I like, but it does come off a little gloopy on the wand and I have to scrape the excess off before I use it. It does give a lot of length to your lashes and a bit of volume. It's an OK mascara but I'm not sure I would purchase again!

I love the look of all 3 products together as its a really nice fresh look. The eyeshadow is very subtle so hard to capture on camera! You'll have to excuse the photos - it looks like I'm not wearing anything but I'm actually wearing a strapless maxi dress!! :-) I think my favourite purchase out of the 3 is definitely the foundation. It transforms your skin into a velvety dream with not a blemish in sight!

Pretty in Pink OOTD ♥

On our honeymoon I wanted to wear lots of romantic, pretty pastel colours and this was one of my favourite outfits. We went to visit Nelson's Dockyard for a bit of history and museums, and the weather although overcast was very warm. This summery outfit was nice and cool, as well as being pretty and pink!

The pink jersey dress, canvas beach bag and sandals were all from Primark and co-ordinated really well. I have a big thing for the colour mint at the moment so I wore these sandals and the striped bag a lot! My sunglasses are from Aldo, and I got them in the sale, 2 for £16.

Make up: Look Flawless Fix Beauty Balm, Rimmel Soft Kohl Sable Brown, Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara, Mac PatentPolish Lip Pencil in Kittenish

I bought these gorgeous rose gold sparkly stud earrings off Etsy as a back up option for the wedding, but I ended up wearing some dangly ones. I love these studs as they match my engagement and wedding rings perfectly. I can see myself wearing these on a regular basis!

My favourite Primark sandals! <3 I love this outfit and will hopefully get to wear it on sunny days in the UK! I also have this dress in white. They are only £5 each and I'm tempted to get some other colours!

Do you like to wear pastels?

Vintage Maya ♥

I'm excited to let you know about a wonderful website I have found - Vintage Maya. Vintage Maya is an online vintage inspired boutique for home decor and fashion. This is an American website however they do ship internationally which I was excited about, as they have some gorgeous pieces.

I love the philosophy behind this site, it centres around nostalgia and the sense of self through memories and history. They collaborate with artists and designers who create products you feel connected to, always abiding by these 3 key words:

Beauty. Love. Artistry.

Who are we? We are individuals who want highly curated looks not meant for the masses and love the excitement of a “find”. We love vintage, history and vintage inspired but we also love to mix it up with new and modern designs. We travel searching for our roots and learning more about the world around us. We shop the world for artisans and independent designers to bring you the best of fresh new looks. Handpicked, we showcase styles that come straight from a designer’s soul to bring a sense of connectivity, consciousness and celebration of the art.

Vintage Maya reminds me of the ethos of notonthehighstreet.com but with a luxurious feel. Every item feels extra special and covetable - items that you would treasure for years and pass down to your children.

Here are some of my fave items from the Vintage Maya site. We are moving out soon so I am particularly drawn to home items. The home is the ultimate expression of your personality and interests, and these are great.

I adore this cushion! It is so sweet and reminds me of Rob Ryan papercuts. We received a beautiful Rob Ryan laser cut as a wedding present and this cushion would tie in perfectly.

This pretty tablecloth is 100% cotton and is embroidered with gold dragonflies. It would look gorgeous in a minimalist monochrome dining room, with matching gold crockery.

I definitely have a teapot obsession, and this stunning butterfly teapot is crying out to join my collection! Perfect for sunny afternoon tea in the garden.

Do check out Vintage Maya if you're after something special. I think it's great for wedding gifts as you can find some really luxurious, meaningful items.

Beach Fashion: George at Asda Swimsuits ♥

I packed a lot of bikinis for my honeymoon but I also wanted to buy a nice swimsuit in case I went on any snorkeling or water sport trips. I was searching everywhere but couldn't find one I liked in the shops. In the end I went online and ordered one from George at Asda. It was a desperate last minute panic buy, I will admit, as I was so busy with final wedding preparations I just didn't have the time to search the high street.

When it arrived I was thrilled. It fit perfectly and looked quite vintage/pin up with the polka dot print. It was super flattering and I couldn't wait to wear it on honeymoon. I ended up wearing it on a boat trip to Barbuda (see pic on the boat deck!) and it was the perfect swimsuit. It had detachable halter neck straps, which I removed so I wouldn't get strap marks. I also wore it with a navy blue daisy skirt when we weren't in the water, and the swimsuit acted like a lovely strapless top. It had an inbuilt bra so was very supportive and didn't fall down at all!

When on the beach back at the resort I wore it with some gold slim fit havaianas which were the comfiest flip flop ever! The turquoise green went really well with the champagne gold of the flip flops. I never wore the straps with this swimsuit as I just didn't need to as it stayed up so well.

If I'd known how good this swimsuit was going to be and had time to order more before I went away, I would definitely have bought it in the other colours available. You can buy this swimming costume for only £14 which I think is a bargain! It comes in a slightly different polka dot print in black and pink. There's also a similar navy and white striped swimsuit, but it doesn't seem to have the nice ruche detail like these.

What's your favourite swimsuit?

World Cup Fashion ♥

World cup fever is very much in the air! I can't go anywhere seeing lots people dressed up in a variety of colourful football shirts, celebrating and intently watching the matches in every bar or pub in sight! I'm not a big football fan but I do enjoy the exciting atmosphere the world cup creates.

Inspired by the vibrant football shirts and flags, I thought I'd do a world cup fashion post! Instead of doing the England colours, I thought I'd create an outfit to represent the host country - Brazil! They have an amazing colourful flag with bright green, yellow and blue - such summery, fun colours. This is a cool outfit to wear if going to watch the footie as it's not in your face 'football fan'!

I love the yellow Ted Baker bag - it's only £20 in the sale....very tempted to purchase this!

Are you getting involved in the football madness?

£10.50 Primark Outfit ♥

Primark is brilliant for holiday wear and I bought a few bits and pieces for our honeymoon. Mostly I bought bikinis (one for every day of the week, of course!) and pretty dresses. This year I found some great value and lovely footwear and jewellery items which I don't normally buy. Living in London, visiting Primark can be a bit of a nightmare as it's always so packed, chaotic and messy! Literally stuff everywhere on the floors...I feel so sorry for the staff! I braved the crowds however to pick up some bargain beach and holiday items!

Here is an outfit I wore on evening on honeymoon and I realised that everything I was wearing from Primark! Which then prompted me to add up the total cost - £10.50! The dress cost £5 and is a jersey dress with aztec print on the skirt. It's really comfy and the material is a little thin, but what can you expect for £5!

I'm also wearing some gold leaf dangly earrings which cost £1.50. I've seen similar ones in Accessorize for at least ten times that price so I snapped them up quick. I've taken a photo of them as you can't see them behind my hair in this photo!

And finally the sandals - these are my favourite Primark purchase in a long time! I have them in mint as well as yellow. They only cost £4 and so I was dubious about their durability, but I am still wearing both pairs daily weeks later! Very impressed. I will be returning to buy more as they do them in aztec print in pink and black too!

Please excuse my pasty legs and dopey face! This is the only pic of the outfit I had! :-)

What's your favourite Primark purchase?

Metallic Shoes ♥

I'm a big fan of all things shiny and sparkly, so I love that metallics are sticking around for summer. I've seen some gorgeous metallic clothing but it doesn't always look quite right on me and with my other clothes. I love that metallics can also be incorporated with footwear and there are some amazing shoes around that are super reflective and fun! I will be purchasing some shiny silver shoes for summer for sure!

I've made a shortlist of the metallic shoes I like and have listed them by price. My ultimate faves are the clogs, but at the higher end of the price scale, I think I may have to settle for a pair of the others until I save my pennies up!

These two beauties are both from George at Asda. I love George fashion and they have not let me down again with these super cute metallic pumps. The plain silver ballet shoes are only £8, and the pretty pink & silver ankle strap pumps are a bargain £12! I'd love to wear both of these with a pretty summer blouse and skinny jeans.

Moving into the pricier but still reasonable range we have beautiful rose gold block heel pointed shoes, from Miss Selfridge, for £29. These sling backs would look great worn with a smart shift dress to work and would be dressed up enough for drinks in the evening! In the under £40 range is the dainty laser cut silver sandals from Faith, £35.  I used to wear Faith shoes a lot when I was younger so was happy to see they are still around! These shoes would look lovely with a flowing maxi dress or skirt.

In the top end are some fierce silver jello gladiator sandals from Topshop. They cost £45 which is pretty pricey for jelly shoes but they are extra special shiny leather ones so it's worth it, right?! They would look very cool with pastel colours. For under £100 we have the amazingly beautiful 'I want them so bad' Maguba Rio Silver clogs from Lotta from Stockholm. Lotta makes gorgeous clogs that are a fraction of the price of those oh-so-similar clogs that you've seen knocking around! For £89.90 these are a snip compared to its pricier twin.

Do you own any metallic footwear or clothing? Which of the above do you like best?

Overnight Oats ♥

Before my wedding I went on a big health-kick to get fit and a bit slimmer so I'd look my best in my dress. This involved LOTS of gym-going and watching what I ate. I really enjoyed the gym aspect but I found it really difficult and sometimes boring to be careful with what food I ate as I just have such a sweet tooth and all those yummy things were out (since the wedding I have scoffed a little too many sweet things...)

I found out about a great recipe for a quick, tasty breakfast that is healthy and filling. It is called 'Overnight Oats' and it's so simple and tastes awesome so I thought I'd share it with you! I made this a lot as it was handy to eat before the gym in the morning. Overnight oats uses standard porridge oats that soften overnight in your milk of choice! Porridge is great in the morning but sometimes takes a little too long to make, so this version is much more convenient.

Ingredients:

- Rolled oats
- Almond milk
- Greek, Yoghurt
- Frozen mixed berries (fresh also fine!)
- Goji berries
- Spoonful of peanut butter

Method:

1. Mix equal parts oats & liquid (1/3 of oats, milk and yoghurt in this case!) in a small container. You can use a little tupperware or if you want to be fancy pants overnight oats look great in a little glass kilner jar.

2. Stir in the fruit  + peanut butter

3. Place in fridge overnight!

4. In the morning, stir and eat cold, or if you want it to be warm quickly blast it in the microwave! The oats absorb all the liquid overnight and become soft, thick, fluffy and yummy!

This was my go-to breakfast in the run up to the wedding as it's a great energy booster to set you up for the day. It tastes great and was also my sweet treat for the day!

The possibilities are endless with this recipe, you can use any type of milk or yoghurt, and add or substitute whatever you want! Here's some other combinations:

  • Oats, almond milk, shredded apple, raisins, vanilla yoghurt, cinnamon (so good!)
  • Oats, cow's milk, strawberries, strawberry yoghurt, goji berries
  • Oats, soy milk, bananas, blueberries, greek yoghurt, honey
  • Oats, soy milk, greek yoghurt, coconut, cherries, chia seeds, cocoa powder

If you like a bit of texture you can also add crunchy toppings right before you eat your oats like your favourite cereal or granola, or even chopped nuts!

Have you ever tried Overnight Oats?

The Two Faces of January - Style Steal ♥

I recently watched the film 'The Two Faces of January'. It is a suspense thriller set in the 1960s and it is one of the best films I have seen in a long time. I won't go into the story other than to say it is centered around a con artist, his wife and a stranger who flee Athens after getting caught up in some trouble. If you haven't seen it already, I thoroughly recommend it!

One of the things I loved about the film (in addition to the great storyline!) was the gorgeous 1960s fashion. The outfits are so amazing, especially Kirsten Dunst's. She is the wife 'Collette' in the film, and her character wears the most chic ensembles, which I have sought to recreate!

I hope you like my 'Style Steals'! If you watch the film I'd love to hear what you think!

MAC PatentPolish Lip Pencil - Kittenish ♥

I wanted to find an easy-to-apply lip colour for my wedding day so that I could reapply quickly throughout the day when it started to wear off. I also wanted to find a product that wouldn't create a horrible, scummy lip which some products tend to do!

I love lip crayons so when I visited a MAC counter I was very excited to see the new PatentPolish Lip Pencils. They only had a small collection of colours available but I was immediately drawn to Kittenish.

Kittenish is a lovely, girly pink colour with a slight mauve tinge. It's semi sheer and gives the lip a nice smooth and shiny wash of colour. It doesn't feel gloopy or sticky and is very easy to apply. As it isn't super pigmented I was able to apply it without a mirror which was just what I wanted!

It was quite long lasting and when it did wear away a bit it did so evenly and with no scummy edges! I really loved wearing this on the day and it also had a nice sweet fragrance/taste!

MAC describes the line of lip pencils as follows:

The colour and shine of a gloss, the precision of a lip pencil - now in one colour stick. M•A•C Patentpolish Lip Pencil instantly achieves a luscious shine with a single swipe. Effortless twist-up keeps application clean and simple, with no need to sharpen. Enjoy colour in a range of 12 new shades - from bright corals to soft, rosy pinks and natural nudes - that stay bright and true on all skin tones.

I love this product and would like to get some more colours. I'm particularly drawn to the berry red 'Pleasant' colour!

Have you tried this lip pencil? What's your favourite colour?

Father's Day Gift Ideas ♥

On Sunday 15th June it is Father's Day. I have got my Dad a nice card and a souvenir from my honeymoon in Antigua. There are so many lovely gifts for men out there at the moment, I thought I'd share a few of my favourites for Father's Day!

Mother's Day gifts are all about luxury, pampering and beautiful things. Father's Day usually centres around booze and novelty gifts that are laughed at but then probably chucked in the car boot bag. I have found some special, luxe Father's Day gifts because Dads deserve a little luxury too!

Hanging Wooden Birdhouse, Ebay, £24.99- for Dads who love the garden and birdwatching, this lovely birdhouse is a gift that can be appreciated every day.

Murdock Bright Leaf Cologne, £70 - treat your Dad to a delicious cologne from Murdocks, or an old fashioned hair cut and wet shave at one of their barber shops. I bought my husband a gift voucher for his 30th and he loved it!

Ted Baker Stag Hip Flask, £25 - a stylish hip flask for your Dad to fill with his favourite tipple for those long walks with the family dog.

Initial Handkerchiefs, John Lewis, now £6 in the sale - for the old school Dad who carries a hankie in his pocket and wears a flat cap!

Leather Mule Slippers, M&S, £29.50 - luxurious leather mule slippers for your Dad to wear on Father's Day whilst he reads the paper with a cup of tea!

Dark Horse Chocolate, Hotel Chocolat, £5  - who doesn't love a bit of dark chocolate? This stylish chocolate slab gift will be a sure hit.

Double Wall Coffee Press, John Lewis, £30 - for coffee connoisseur Dads who love a good cup of 'kaw-fee' in the mornings!

What have you got your Dad for Father's Day?

Wedding Wednesday - Our Wedding 23rd May 2014 ♥

Hi everyone! After my little update a few weeks ago I thought I'd give a bigger update, now that I have tied the knot! Woohoo! On 23rd May I got married to my lovely fella and it was the most amazing day, best day ever!

Here are a few photos from the day from friends & family. Everything went so well and I wish we could do it all over again! It went sooo fast on the day.

I should be getting the professional photos in a couple of weeks so I will share some with you then. Our photographer Matt Brown was absolutely brilliant, and he has sent me this sneak peek shot of me arriving at the ceremony. I love it!

Now that the wedding and honeymoon are over (boohoo!) I should be able to blog more often and I'm looking forward to getting back in to it! I did miss writing on my little site!

I really enjoyed doing the 'Wedding Wednesday' posts and I am wondering whether to continue this. Let me know if you'd like to see more wedding posts from me!

Lots of love
