Weekend walk in Highgate

Last weekend the sun was shining and spring was in the air so my boyfriend and I went for a walk around the area we live in. We walked from Alexandra Palace down a woodland footpath and all the way to Highgate Village. We used to live really close to Highgate Village so it's nice to pop back there every now and then. Every time I go I love to visit the charity shops, and the little boutiques. They also have some lovely little pubs and cafes. One of my favourite places is The Highgate Pantry, a little bakery and cafe that always has a window full of goodies. I always mean to get one of the pretty cakes with fancy decorations but I end up getting the same thing most days - giant custard doughnut! I got one of these last weekend and my boyfriend got a vanilla millefeuille.

We took our yummy baked goods and coffees to the village square and sat on a bench and watched the world go by. The daffodils are all coming out now so everywhere looked so pretty. Here are some daffodils in a vase I photographed the other day!

Last year Highgate held the 'Fair in the Square'. They had loads of stalls selling food, jewellery, artwork and vintage goods and they also had a Dog Show! Loads of cute doggies around! This year they are doing fair in the square again, no Dog Show...this year it's a sheep shearing contest! I can't wait to see that!!

I really love the village-y parts of London as it's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of central. Where's your favourite place to escape to at the weekend?

  1. Love your blog! Just moved to Scotland, so far my favorite getaways are right outside my door, as we live on the coast. I am anxious to explore parts of England.

  4. I love walking to Alexandra Palace park and sitting by the duck pond for a few hours, with those views and the quietness you can forget you are in London xx
